December in Ontario is a true winter wonderland! There is a mix of festive activities and plenty of opportunities for outdoor sports. Snow will usually arrive near the end of the month and may not stay on the ground, but be careful as it can be a bit slippery. It’s still warm enough to get outside in the region or explore some wonderful indoor activities.
One thing to keep in mind is that it gets dark early in December, with sunset often around 4:30 PM. This means you’ll have shorter daylight hours to enjoy outdoor activities, so plan accordingly. Remember to dress in layers with your toque, scarf, and gloves to keep cozy while exploring!
You can refer to the video in Module 1 in your Home@DC International Student Orientation about dressing for winters in Canada.
