Graduating International Student Experience (GISE)
Are you finishing your studies this summer?
If you’re currently in your final semester, you will soon receive an email from the International Student Advisor team inviting you to enrol in GISE.
GISE (Graduating International Student Experience) is a step-by-step course available on DC Connect. It includes important information specifically for graduating international students and is mandatory to complete by August 31, 2026.
Through GISE, you’ll also have access to workshops on immigration and career preparation to support your next steps after graduation.
More information about GISE, including how to access the course, will be sent to your DC Mail early this month.

Are you finishing your studies this summer?
Your journey doesn’t end at graduation. You can use this enrolment form to join the International Alumni Network, an opportunity to expand your professional network, explore new opportunities, and stay connected with the Durham College community after graduation.
The International Education Office, in collaboration with the Office of Advancement and Alumni Relations, will stay in touch with alumni and share ways for you to remain engaged and involved beyond your time at DC.

Housing Pulse – Protect Yourself from Housing ScamsMoving in soon? Protect yourself from future disputes by documenting the condition of your new home. Take photos and videos of the entire unit when you move in, including all appliances and furniture. This record can help prevent false damage claims when you move out. You can also download a move-in inspection template from the Region of Durham website to keep everything organized.

Living a Healthy Lifestyle – Stay Safe & Be Water Aware
Ontario’s lakes and rivers are a big part of life here, especially during summer. While spending time near the water can be fun and relaxing, staying safe is essential especially if you’re new to Canada and unfamiliar with local water conditions.
Cold water, strong currents, and changing depths can make natural water more dangerous than it appears. Always swim at designated beaches, avoid swimming alone, and wear a life jacket when boating or if you’re not a confident swimmer.
Learning basic swimming and water survival skills can help build confidence and keep you safe. The City of Oshawa and local community organizations offer swimming lessons for adults and beginners.
Remember: in an emergency, call 911 immediately. Stay aware, stay prepared, and enjoy Ontario’s natural spaces safely.

One-on-One In-Person MeetingWe welcome international students to meet with us in person to discuss any questions or concerns. Our team is available Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Our office is located on the second floor of the Student Services Building at the Oshawa campus. When you arrive, please take a ticket from the kiosk by entering your student number and selecting “International.”
At the Whitby campus, an International Student Advisor is available every Wednesday, sitting together with the Enrolment Services team. Please also start with the kiosk for a ticket.
