Living a Healthy Lifestyle – Prioritize Your Sleep This Fall
As classes begin and schedules fill up, getting enough sleep is one of the most important things you can do for your health and academic success. Sleep helps improve memory, focus, and mood, making it easier to manage stress and stay energized.
Here are a few simple tips to help you sleep better:
-
Stick to a Schedule: Go to bed and wake up at the same time every day, even on weekends.
-
Unplug Before Bed: Turn off screens at least 30 minutes before sleeping to help your brain wind down.
-
Watch What You Eat and Drink: Avoid caffeine late in the day and try not to eat heavy meals right before bed.
-
Create a Sleep-Friendly Space: Keep your room cool, dark, and quiet. Use earplugs or a sleep mask if needed.
Getting a good amount of sleep each night can help you feel your best and succeed both in and out of the classroom. For more tips, visit HERE.

International Student Mentorship Program
Recruiting mentors and mentees for our International Student Mentorship Program!
|
Attention Durham College International Students! We are currently recruiting mentors and mentees for our International Student Mentorship program. The program is designed to help first-semester international students in their journey at Durham College and life in Canada. Mentors and mentees are asked to meet (physically, virtually, email, etc.) at least 3 times in the Fall 2025 term (September to December). They may choose to meet more than that if they wish. Meetings and advising scheduling will be determined between the mentor and their mentee. Mentors will gain quality experience helping others, and mentees will benefit from being able to have their questions answered from those who have knowledge of and experience with Durham College and living in Canada. We will also host two mingling events, with refreshments and prizes, and provide recognition to mentors that successfully meet their mentees 3 or more times throughout the term. Details of this and the ability to sign up can be found here on our program webpage. Thank you for your interest!
