OCTOBER in Ontario is a magical time. The weather cools down and the air becomes crisp. The stunning fall foliage, with leaves turning vibrant shades of red, orange, and yellow, is best enjoyed from mid September to late October. Outdoor adventures like hiking and participating in local festivals and events, such as pumpkin festivals and apple picking, are popular activities. Halloween celebrations add to the excitement with decorations, haunted houses, and costume parties. It’s important to dress in layers due to the unpredictable weather and to be prepared for occasional rain.
October is also a busy academic period with midterms, so balancing studies with outdoor activities can help manage stress.

International Student Mentorship Program
Attention Durham College International Students! We are currently recruiting mentors and mentees for our International Student Mentorship Program!
|
The program is designed to help first-semester international students in their journey at DC and life in Canada. Mentors and mentees meet (physically, virtually, email, etc.) at least 3 times in the Fall 2024 term (September to December). They may choose to meet more than that if they wish. Scheduling will be determined between the mentor and their mentee.
Mentors will gain quality experience helping others, and mentees will benefit from being able to have their questions answered from those who have knowledge of, and experience with, Durham College and living in Canada. Mentors that meet their mentee within the term are also eligible for registration into one or more career networking events! Mentors can also gain points towards the Global Learner Recognition program, which you can find information about here .
Thank you for your interest!
